We are finally seeing an end to a long and unpredictable winter. Like you, we are looking forward to some sunshine and spending time with our families outside of the house.
Regardless of the weather, we at RecycleForce continue our mission to provide men and women who are transitioning back into our communities with a good job, workplace certifications and a wage. But it takes more than these material things to prepare someone who’s been incarcerated for many years to reenter this or any community.
Our programs help the formally incarcerated earn back their dignity through work and open communications with peers and those who genuinely want to see them succeed. For some people leaving incarceration, it takes more than a wage and a good job to keep them off the path back to prison. They need a level of support and courage that is rooted in a spiritual connection to their creator and the fellowship of those who have experienced and traversed the challenges of the world outside the walls of prison.
In the video interview below you will hear Russell Boyd’s story. In February, Mr. Boyd received his first paycheck after 43 years of incarceration. Mr. Boyd’s success, for him not to return to prison and to give back to our community, isn’t based solely on our programs. Yes, he’s receiving valuable job trainings and certifications, but thanks to our partners at Brookside Community Church and the Isaiah House, Mr. Boyd has found a welcoming and loving community that believes in second chances.
Thank you and I hope that you enjoy the video.
