We have broken ground on our new facility, which also happens to be the original home of RecycleForce at the old RCA plant.
In the Fall of 2022, RecycleForce will move the headquarters of its nationally recognized employment social enterprise to a 102,500 square foot facility at Sherman Park on the Eastside of Indianapolis, marking its return to the site where the organization was founded in 1996.
The first private development at the former site of the RCA headquarters, now owned by the City of Indianapolis, was made possible through financing from IFF, People for the Common Good (PCG) and a $13 million allocation of New Markets Tax Credits from the Indianapolis Redevelopment CDE. The programming at RecycleForce reduces recidivism and prevents violent crime by providing high risk individuals a wage paying job immediately upon release in an environment that allows them to meet the restrictive obligations of criminal justice oversight.
The expansion will allow RecycleForce to double its capacity, recycling 12 million pounds of electronic waste per year while providing transitional employment, training, and support services to 600 individuals annually as they reenter the community from incarceration. Perhaps most importantly, by owning the facility and establishing a permanent home at Sherman Park, RecycleForce will ensure lasting hope and opportunity for those who need it most, leading to a safer and cleaner community for all.
Take a look at the recap from our groundbreaking. We’re at the corner of hope and opportunity, and it’s an exciting time.
