Indianapolis, IN – On June 22, 2022, RecycleForce was awarded a $5 million grant from Lilly Endowment Inc. as part of $34 million in grants to human services organizations to help strengthen long-term financial sustainability plans.
“We are humbled by the financial support of the Lilly Endowment,” said RecycleForce President & CEO Gregg Keesling. “There is substantial work to do in serving individuals and families affected by our criminal justice system. But it’s wonderful to pause today and celebrate this acknowledgement of the good work carried out by the women and men of RecycleForce.”
“With the generosity of the Lilly Endowment, RecycleForce can focus on establishing our physical presence on Indy’s Near Eastside,” said RecycleForce COO Dustin Jones. “We look forward to taking an opportunity to plan for the future while using the funds awarded to further our mission and serve more individuals and families.”
Since 2006, RecycleForce has safely recycled over 100 million pounds of electronic waste while providing job training to thousands of returning citizens. This makes a positive impact on the environment, local and state economies, communities, and the lives of hundreds of formerly incarcerated men and women along with their families.
“We believe in measuring impact,” said RecycleForce Board Chair John Purcell. “Over the coming months, RecycleForce will explore new methods for collecting data to better communicate how our work is benefitting Central Indiana.”
